Sonora? Bullseye Blade |

Size: 3 5/8" long x 1 1/2" wide
Provenance: Knox County, Indiana. Potak Farm 1930's-1950's.
Condition: Excellent. Nicely made thin Archaic period blade. Super pressure flaking around edges. Purple and red bullseye makes me think Sonora, but I am not sure about tan outsides. A very nice color piece, and not Woodland period like most blades.

Mini-Quartz Point |

Provenance: Lost the information. I have had it for a long time, and misplaced provenance
Condition: Excellent. It is little, but fine. Ground base suggests Archaic. Nicely translucent. Much nicer workmanship and form than most quartz points I run into.

Fluted Greenbriar |

Size: 3 1/8" long.
Provenance: This piece comes from Kentucky and was in the Walter Nelson collection that was recently auctioned off. This one has "$10" in Walter's red ink on it, which should give you an idea of what he thought of it. Most had $2 or $5 on them in 1950's pricing.
Condition: Super. This piece does not picture well. It is much, much nicer in hand. Fluted on both sides, and superior flaking make this a very nice late paleo piece.

Lost Lake Deep Notch |

Size: 2 9/16" long x 1 3/4" wide
Provenance: Found in the Blue River area of Harrison County, Indiana by Mary Radcliffe's grandfather many, many years ago.
Condition: Excellent. I want to call the material Indiana Hornstone, but it exhibits slightly lighter colors and shows some translucency around the edges. I am thinking it could classed as Paoli. It is somewhat dificult to get a handle on the material, b/c it is so wonderfully patinated. I see buckets of these deep notch forms with no patina, and incorrect flaking patterns all over the net. Here is your chance to buy one that noone would ever question its age. There is some super flaking on my personal favorite form.

Flint Ridge Crystal Blade |

Size: 4 5/8" long x 1 13/16" wide
Provenance: Old Central Ohio collection of Richard Finch. This one is labeled from the extremely early H.H. Hill collection and bears his number "0819". Most Ohio collectors have seen this mark, and look for it on good old flint.
Condition: Excellent. I don't want to say that this is the finest made blade, but it has an extra quality that I have not seen. There is literally a forest of quartz crystals on the back end of the blade. Also a forest of mineralization. A piece that the next owner should publish.

Size: 1 1/2" long x 1" wide
Provenance: Marked with Indiana "Ind." Also has some old India ink that just says "Fine".
Condition: Perfect. This is a "10". I love the old folksy ink that says "fine", b/c it is FINE. Probably the best small sized bifurcate I have owned. Material might be a patinated Indiana Green, but don't hold me to this call.

Paleo Lance/Knife |

Size: 3 1/2" long
Provenance: Butler County, Kentucky. I bought this piece at the David Baldock sale in Tennessee about five years ago in a frame of all paleo blades/lances/tools.
Condition: Excellent. This is the last one from the frame I will be selling, and I always save the best for last. Really great Carter Cave and great Paleo work. I really am not sure if it is a lance or a knife. Nice angular basal treatment, like the Paleo collectors want to see.

Sonora Stillwell |

Size: 2 7/16" long.
Provenance: I purchased this from the finder. Cheryl King. He placed an "x" over the exact place where he found it, which was an area cut for logging near Sonora, Kentucky. Buyer recieves map.
Condition: Perfect. There are many reasons why I have held onto this piece for many years. It is dark green patinated Sonora, and is pretty much flawless. Some serrations still showing and excellent provenance to boot.

Uniquely Salvaged Flint Ridge Dovetail |

Size: 3 1/8" long
Provenance: Found by Andrew Jack near Xenia, Ohio in the 1800's. I have a letter with a photo and history.
Condition: Salvaged Prehistorically. Have you ever seen a dovetail salvaged into a side hafted knife? I was so mad when Hothem's Dovetail book came out and I didn't submit this piece. His section on salvaged examples had nothing like this. Piece must have a big impact and the prehistoric maker just worked down the one side and kept right on using it.

Provenance: I bought this point from a Ron Helman auction of fine artifacts a ways back.
Condition: Excellent. One tiny side nick is the only detractor on this exceptional point. The lightning line is complete and runs through both sides b/c the point is very thin like most quality Jacks Reef points.

Carter Cave Big Sandy |

Size: One eyelash shy of 3 1/2" long x 1 1/8" wide at ears
Provenance: Old Central Ohio collection of Richard Finch. Labeled pieces in this collection came from H.H. Hill, Wherle, and Copeland. This one was unlabeled except for numbers on the back "190210". From my experience with Carter Cave, I feel okay saying it hails form the Ohio River region in Southern Ohio/Northern Kentucky.
Condition: Super. Tip isn't perfect, but it shows very little damage. This piece is at the top end of the size range for the type, and an example of resharpening. It is bordering on a drill form with super archaic work throughout the piece.

Condition: Excellent. This is a material piece meaning the material makes it. I am calling it hornstone, but it may Sonora. Wonderful banding and great color contrast. Nice piece for the money.
